Although the Walking Festival is given its high profile during the events of Spring and Autumn, busy in the background are a dedicated team working at raising the profile of the Isle of Wight for Walking Holidays, also helping with the promotion of keeping fit.
Many events are attended by representatives of the Walking Festival team and its leaders. One such event was the opening the new Adult Fitness Park at Ventnor, which took place on 2nd January.  The Lottery funded park will be run and managed by fitness instructor Steph Toogood.  The building of the park and its accompanyging facilites were in response to a survey into the fitness of the local population within the area, and it is hoped that the free facilities will help in improving health and fitness for many adults.  The grand opening was attended by many local sports and activity leaders and representatives one of the representatives being from the Isle of Wight Walking Festival leaders.  All people who attended were given advise, regarding ways to keep fit.
